Auto-reply is enabled for email in Plesk, but autoresponder does not sent messages

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.5 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

  1. Auto-reply in Plesk > Subscriptions > domain.tld > Mail > user@domain.tld > Auto-Reply > Switch on auto-reply is enabled, however auto-reply messages are not get sent.

  2. Autoresponder that is set via MailEnable Admin panel works properly.

Cause

MailEnable server SMTP security misconfiguration.

Resolution

Change SMTP settings using the following steps:

  1. Make sure that installed MailEnable version is supported by Plesk.

    Plesk 12.5 Software Requirements
    Plesk 12.0 Software Requirements

  2. Launch MailEnable Management Console

  3. Go to Servers > Localhost > Services and Connectors > SMTP > Right Click > Properties

  4. Select Security tab and disable options Disable all catchalls and Authenticated senders must use valid sender address
    MailEnable
Click Apply button, but do not close Properties window.

  5. Go to Relay tab > Privileged IPs... > Granted relay rights

  6. Press Add , input the mail server outgoing IP address and click OK .

Mail server outgoing IP address can be found in Outbound tab > Outbound IP Binding

  7. Restart MailEnable SMTP Connector service:

    net stop "MailEnable SMTP Connector"
    net start "MailEnable SMTP Connector"

NOTE: According to current business logic it is not possible to use both Plesk auto responder and option "Authenticated senders must use valid sender address" enabled. As workaround enable the option and use autoresponder of Mail Enable.
