Cannot access Web Presence Builder: Access denied for user 'pp_sb_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Symptoms

During a Plesk upgrade the following error appears in the /tmp/plesk_11.5.30_repair.log log:

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'pp_sb_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

or

On attempt to get access to Presence Builder in Plesk GUI, the following error is displayed:

Internal error: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'pp_sb_db'@'localhost' (using password:  <Password has been wiped out for security reasons>

Resolution

  1. Find the pp_sb_db user credentials in the Presence Builder configuration file, /usr/local/sb/config :

    host = localhost
    username = pp_sb_db
    password = 123123123
    port = 3306
    dbname = sitebuilder5
  2. Log in to the MySQL server as the administrator:

    #MYSQL_PWD=`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow` mysql -uadmin mysql
  3. Update the pp_sb_db user's password and privileges using the following commands, replacing <PASSWORD> in the first command with the password found in step #1:

    GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO 'pp_sb_db'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '<PASSWORD>';
    GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, REFERENCES, INDEX, ALTER ON `sitebuilder5`.* TO 'pp_sb_db'@'localhost';
    INSERT INTO mysql.tables_priv (Host,Db,User,Table_name,Table_priv,Column_priv) VALUES ('localhost','sitebuilder5','pp_sb_db','%','Select,Insert,Update,Delete,Alter','Select,Insert,Update');
    FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

In case the error appears during an upgrade, follow step below:

  1. Continue the upgrade using the bootstrapper.sh script:
    # /usr/local/psa/bootstrapper/pp11.5.30-bootstrapper/bootstrapper.sh repair
