How to change the location for Plesk backups on Linux?
By default, all backup data is stored in the directory
To change the default backup location, follow these steps:
Connect to a Plesk server via SSH.
Create a new directory for backups. In the example below, it is
# mkdir /plesk_backups
- Modify the backup location in the Plesk configuration file:
Open the file
/etc/psa/psa.confin any text text editor and navigate to the line "Backups directory".
Change the value of
DUMP_Dto the created directory from the step 2. The result will be as follows:
CONFIG_TEXT: # Backups directory
Save the changes and close the file.
Verify that the directory has been changed:
# cat /etc/psa/psa.conf | grep -w DUMP_D
Set correct ownership for the directory
# chown psaadm:psaadm /plesk_backups
Move all backup data from the old location to new:
# mv /var/lib/psa/dumps/* /plesk_backups/
Restart the "sw-cp-server" service:
# service sw-cp-server restart
- Now new backup files will be stored in the directory
