Cannot dump database content: mysqldump: unknown variable

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Database backup fails:

[WARNING]: Cannot dump database content 'example_db-134' of type 'mysql'[Cannot backup content of database 'example_db-134'. The mysqldump utility has returned '7'.
STDERR: mysqldump: unknown variable 'defaults-extra-file=C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\PrivateTemp\ mp60912.tmp'

It is not possible to create a dump of the database including routines:

C:\\> "%plesk_bin%\\BackupUtils\\mysqldump.exe" -Q -hlocalhost -uexample-user -p********* -P3306 --routines example_db-134 > "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\PrivateTemp\   mp26598.tmp

mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'SHOW FIELDS FROM `example_table`': execute command denied to user 'example-user'@'%' for routine 'example_db-134.example_routine' (1370)

Cause

Insufficient privileges.

Resolution

  1. Go to MySQLAdmin and set Grant , Execute privileges for the user to the database mentioned in the error message.

  2. Contact the database owner to optimize the permissions.
