Cannot configure Online Store: "Unexpected server behavior"

Applicable to:

Symptoms

When trying to configure Online Store on his site, the following warning is shown in Web Presence Builder (WPB) interface while " Store ID " and " Owner's e-mail address " are entered and Apply is clicked:

Unexpected server behavior. For details, see the product's log files.
Please contact the server administrator.

The following error appears in sitebuilder.log log file:

Unable to Connect to ssl://my.ecwid.com:443. Error #0: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Temporary failure in name resolution

or

Unable to Connect to ssl://my.ecwid.com:443. Error #110: Connection timed out

Cause

'my.ecwid.com' is not resolved properly or is not accessible from the server where WPB is installed:

~# telnet my.ecwid.com 443
Trying 203.0.113.2...

Resolution

Verify that ' my.ecwid.com ' is resolved to IP Address 54.209.87.152 - check /etc/hosts file and modify it if needed. Also the domain name is accessible on port 443 from the server:

~# dig +short my.ecwid.com
54.209.87.152
~# grep my.ecwid /etc/hosts
54.209.87.152 my.ecwid.com
~# telnet my.ecwid.com 443
Trying 54.209.87.152...
Connected to my.ecwid.com.
Escape character is '^]'.

Verify your network settings to make the domain name be resolved and accessible.
