Plesk Windows 12.0 to 12.5 upgrade stuck on "upgrading Spamassassin..."

Symptoms

Plesk upgrade from 12.0 to 12.5 is stuck on "upgrading Spamassassin..." step. The following records are found in C:\\PleskInstaller\\autoinstaller3_log :

The following is shown in Process Monitor if it is filtered to perl.exe :

Cause

There are too many mails to be processed by SpamAssassin.

Resolution

Make sure that the process is not stuck in Process Monitor:

  1. Find PID of perl.exe process in Task Manager > Details

  2. Filter Process Monitor to track perl.exe by PID

  3. Make sure that there are new entries written and that process consumes server resources

Alternatively, check the process status in Process Explorer:

  1. Locate perl.exe process under a spammng.exe sub-tree

  2. Make sure perl.exe process consumes server resources

  3. Hover the mouse pointer to perl.exe process to get more details about what is currently being processed by SpamAssassin.

If process is not stuck, wait until it is completed. If process is stuck, contact Plesk technical support .
