Update Host Settings for domain fails with error. All websites are missing in IIS but present in Plesk.

Symptoms

Updating Host Settings for domain fails with error. All websites are missing in IIS but present in Plesk. User accounts in the Local users on the server are also missing. Plesk reconfigurator tool fails with error during applying KB #213911485 :

(Error code 1)

Event viewer log contains the following error:

System.Exception: Unable to add the user (john), invalid parameter is (-1): (2245) The password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements.

at reconfigurator.CheckPleskVirtualHostsSecurity.Run()

Cause

  1. Not all Windows Updates are installed.
  2. Plesk reconfigurator is unable to create system users with passwords which do not meet the current Windows password policy requirements.

Resolution

  1. Install all latest Windows Updates tool

  2. Temporary disable checking password policy requirements in Windows:

  3. Go to Administrative tools - Local security policy - Account policies - Password policy and set "Password must meet complexity requirements" to Disable .

  4. Reconfigure domains using KB #213911485 .

  5. Switch "Password must meet complexity requirements" back to Enable .
