Can not start MSSQL service

Symptoms

Unable to start MSSQL server service.

Windows event viewer shows the error:

Unknown error (Error code 17058) at Start service MSSQLSERVER
at (service::startStopService line 996)
at execute console command --service-control(vconsoleapp::start line 132)
at execute "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\/admin/bin/defpackagemng" --service-control "--service=MSSQLSERVER" "--action=start"(vconsoleapp::run line 143)
Execute file name: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\admin\\bin\\defpackagemng.exe

Resolution

To fix the issue stop the existing process in 'Services - SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) - stop' and rename the log file:

'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Databases\\MSSQL\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\LOG\\ERRORLOG' to 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Databases\\MSSQL\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\LOG_SAVED'

Then start the MSSQL sever in services:

'Services - SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) - start'

Cause

MSSQL can not start because the log file is inaccessible:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft SQL Server\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\Binn>sqlservr.exe/c
2013-07-25 04:04:27.83 Server Error: 17058, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2013-07-25 04:04:27.83 Server initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'c:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Databases\\MSSQL\\MS
SQL.1\\MSSQL\\LOG\\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)
