Web statistics does not get updated automatically in Plesk for Windows but manual webstat generation works fine

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.x for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Web statistics are not calculated automatically. However, when running webstat utility manually using one of the following commands, web statistics are calculated correctly and are displayed in a browser in Domains > example.com > Web Statistics :

"%plesk_bin%"\\statistics.exe --generate-domain-webstat --domain-name=example.com
"%plesk_dir%"\\admin\\bin\\web_statistics_executor.exe --calculate-domain --webspace-name=example.com --domain-name=example.com

Cause

Web statistics are calculated by a Daily web statistics analyzers run task scheduled task that is missing or disabled.

Resolution

In Windows, go to Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library and check that Plesk Scheduler Task - "Daily web statistics analyzers run task" exists.

Daily web statistics analyzers run task

If it is disabled, enable it.

If it does not exist, run the following command to create the task:

"%plesk_bin%\\crontabmng.exe" create-web-stat-executor-task

Additional information

Webstat data is generated the following way in Plesk for Windows:

  1. On the first step Daily Maintenance Script triggers statistics.exe --calculate-one utility. Plesk parses all statistic data and processes IIS logs in order to prepare it for web-statistics engine (Webalizer or AWstats). As a result, statistics data gets written to web*** .log file in `C:\Inetpub\vhosts\example.com\logs\W3SVC folder.

  2. On the second step, Daily Web Statistics Analyzers Run Task triggers web_statistics_executor.exe utility that processes all web***.log files, prepared on the first step. As a result, Webstat tool (AWstats or Webalizer) shows webstat data in a browser.
