Cannot send emails from Horde webmail: server requested authentication.

  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Cannot send emails from Horde webmail trough MailEnable, but MailEnable WebMail is working fine :

server requested authentication.

MailEnable SMTP-Activity log file contains the error alike:

05/22/16 01:21:03   SMTP-IN 366694DF98824FF8A40B9134B995E5CE.MAI    1404    127.0.0.1           530 srv.domain.tld ESMTP MailEnable Service, Version: 7.50-- denied access at 05/22/16 01:21:03 0   0

Cause

127.0.0.1 address which is used Horde, by default, to connect to the server is blacklisted in SMTP Access Control.

Resolution

  • Open MailEnable admin
  • Navigate to Server > localhost > Connectors > SMTP and right-click the SMTP connector to open properties window.
  • In the SMTP properties go to the "Inbound" tab, in 'IP Address Connection Restriction' section open 'Access Control'.
  • Ensure that 127.0.0.1 is not listed in 'Access Control'
