Postfix unable to receive mails with warning: "warning: connect to postgrey/socket: No such file or directory"

Symptoms

Postfix unable to receive emails.

In the /var/log/maillog the following warnings is present:

    Feb 17 14:04:17 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: connect from mail-qg0-f49.google.com[209.85.192.49]
Feb 17 14:04:17 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: warning: restriction `check_sender_access' after `permit' is ignored
Feb 17 14:04:17 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: warning: connect to postgrey/socket: No such file or directory
Feb 17 14:04:18 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: warning: connect to postgrey/socket: No such file or directory
Feb 17 14:04:18 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: warning: problem talking to server postgrey/socket: No such file or directory
Feb 17 14:04:18 server postfix/smtpd[11952]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from mail-qg0-f49.google.com[209.85.192.49]: 451 4.3.5 Server configuration problem; from=<parallelsmailtesting@gmail.com> to=<client@mailserver.tld> proto=ESMTP helo=<mail-qg0-f49.google.com>

Cause

Incorrect custom Postfix Configuration.

Resolution

  1. Comment out lines with smtpd_sender_restrictions and smtpd_recipient_restrictions values in the /etc/postfix/main.cf file.

    #smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_non_fqdn_sender, reject_unknown_sender_domain, permit, check_sender_access hash:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/blacklists, permit_sasl_authenticated, check_client_access pcre:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/non_auth.re

    #smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, check_client_access pcre:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/no_relay.re, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination, check_policy_service unix:postgrey/socket
  2. Restart Postfix

    service postfix restart
