Mail account creation is failed in Plesk with SmarterMail

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.x for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux
  • Plesk 9.x for Windows

Symptoms

When creating a new mail account in Plesk with Smartermail mail server, an error appears:

Error: Can't open domain. Domain: paratest1.tld [paratest1.tld]. Reason: Failed to log in. at (SmarterMail::SMDomain::throwDomainError line 876) at execute console command -set-password(vconsoleapp::start line 97) at execute "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\admin\\bin\\mailmng.exe" --set-password "domain-name=paratest1.tld" "mailname=test11111" "-password=*"(vconsoleapp::run line 107) (Error code 1)

However,the mail account is successfully created in Plesk and SmarterMail.

Cause

This is considered to be a software issue with the ID #PPPM-910 .

Resolution

The issue has been fixed in Plesk 12.0.18 MU#23.

For versions up to 11.5:

  1. Rename %plesk_bin%\\smartermailprovider.dll to smartermailprovider.dll.orig

  2. Download the new smartermailprovider.dll and place it in %plesk_bin% directory.
