How to delete/modify user permissions for a folder and subfolders/files using a command line?

Answer

There is a special Windows utility icacls . It allows to manage permissions on files and folders.

  1. To modify permissions use the following example:

    icacls "c:\\example\\" /grant:r test_user:F /T

    This command grants full access permissions to test_user for folder c:\\example , subfolders and files.

  2. To purge permissions use the following example:

    icacls  "c:\\example\\"  /remove test_user /T
