SQLSTATE error while removing email address

Symptoms

When trying to delete email at Home > Subscriptions > domain.tld > Mail it fails with an error:

SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

The same error may appear in phpMyAdmin.

Symptoms

MySQL Server service improperly configured, not running or absent.

Resolution

Parallels Plesk for Windows is supplied with two versions of MySQL Server services. The first one is used for client databases, the second one is used to store Parallels Plesk databases.

The client's MySQL is installed in the '%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL' or '%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL51' (in case if MySQL was upgraded to 5.1 during the Plesk upgrade procedure) folder by default.

Configuration file is located in the '%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL\\Data\\my.ini' file.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Create a service using the Windows 'sc' utility:

    "%windir%"\\system32\\sc create MySQL binPath= "\\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Databases\\MySQL51\\bin\\mysqld.exe\\" \\"--defaults-file=C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Databases\\MySQL\\Data\\my.ini\\" MySQL" type= own error= ignore start= auto
  2. Correct the MySQL configuration file and set the new ' basedir ' value. Replace '%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL\\Data' with '%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL51'

  3. Start the service from Windows 'Services' snap in.

If the service already exists make sure that proper my.ini config is used for it.

You can verify the location by opening the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\MySQL\\Image" Windows registry key.
