Plesk upgrade failed: Access denied for user 'local_mysql_root'

Symptoms

Failed to connect to database: Access denied for user 'local_mysql_root'@'myservername.com' (using password: YES)
at (MySQLDatabaseProvider::connect line 420)
at MySQL connection failed(MySQLServerManager::check line 28)

Cause

Installer is trying to connect to MySQL using 'myservername.com' instead of localhost. In database, the user 'local_mysql_root' is configured for the 'localhost' only.

Resolution

  1. Make sure that only 127.0.0.1 address is assigned to your server hostname 'myservername.com' in C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts :

    127.0.0.1       myservername.com
  2. Run installer again.
