Cannot open backup manager's page: Unable get daemon current status: Unable to create UNIX socket /opt/psa/tmp/supervisor.15478: Connection refused

Symptoms

Parallels Plesk Panel version 8.x is running.

I cannot start backup on domain because the following error is shown when open page "Back up" Domains -> DOMAIN.TLD -> Back up

Unable get daemon current status: Unable to create UNIX socket /usr/local/psa/tmp/supervisor.15478 : Connection refused

What is the error and how can I resolve the problem?

Cause

Sometimes objects from old backup session are not deleted from after backup is finished. The error is caused by the fact that file $PRODUCT\_ROOT\_D /tmp/supervisor.15478 exists and python cannot create symlink for new backup session.

Resolution

You should remove all objects that remained from after old backups manually. Before removal make sure that no backups are running. You may check this with

~# ps ax | grep backup

Remove old backup objects from file system:

~# rm -f /usr/local/psa/tmp/agent-runner.*

and from Plesk database:

MYSQL_PWD=`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow` mysql -uadmin psa -e"delete from BackupsRunning;"

The problem does not exist in Parallels Plesk Panel version 9.x because agent-runner is not used in Plesk Backup Manager.
