[How to] Restrict SMTP for a certain mailbox?

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Question

How to restrict SMTP a certain email address so that it can only send internal emails but not outgoing emails?

Answer

This functionality is not supported in Plesk at the moment. You may want to suggest new functionality in Plesk on Plesk User Voice portal.

The top-ranked suggestions are likely to be included in the next versions of Plesk. You can get the information about the updates in our products in the following public sources:

Workaround

It is possible to totally disable mail functionality for a certain domain. All mailboxes on a domain will not have SMTP function:

  1. Go to Plesk > Domains > example.com > Customize > PHP settings > Additional configuration directives

  2. Add the following additional directives:

    disable_functions = mail
    safe_mode = on
  3. Make sure that you locked the corresponding subscription, otherwise the global definitions of that subscription plan will be synced and domain's specific configuration will be lost.
