What is the difference between lease and retail licenses?

Applicable to:

  • Plesk

Retail license (perpetual license)

Retail license is a one-time-fee purchase. Once purchased, it can be used for an unlimited period of time.

Plesk Retail licenses are updated once in 1 month. Details are available here:

http://kb.plesk.com/465

Currently Retail licenses are not available for purchase, existing licenses remain active.

Lease license

Lease licenses are paid for on monthly or yearly basis and are valid while they are paid for. Otherwise, lease licenses expire.

Lease licenses are renewed by charging the credit card on file. Monthly lease payment will be due exactly 30 days after your previous payment. We will e-mail you a reminder invoice ten (10) days before the renewal date. Your credit card on file will be charged automatically five (5) days before renewal date. If the payment is processed successfully, you will receive a new product key good for the next 30 days of your lease.

If you want to stop further license renewals, you can cancel the license through your Online Store account (if you purchased lease license at Plesk website) or contact Plesk Licensing Support with a cancellation request.

We recommend you to keep track of your billing account (expiration date, available balance, validation) and inform Plesk Licensing Support if any changes were performed.
