Backup restore failed: User already exists

Backup restore:

"%plesk_cli%\\pleskrestore.exe" --restore "c:\\" -ignore-sign -level domains -verbose

Failed with the following error:

An error occurred during domain update: An error occurred during changing of hosting settings: User "foobar" already exists.


Plesk internal issue #PPPM-2936, which is expected to be fixed in future product updates.

There is mail user 'foobar' , same as sysuser ' foobar ' in backup_domain.tld_info_1506120444.xml .

Restore the backup via Plesk user interface:

  1. In Plesk create a new domain. Use the same domain name and sysuser name as were used for the backed up domain. For example, the domain name is .

  2. Upload the backup:

    Domains > > Backup Manager > Upload

  3. Restore the uploaded backup.
