Migration error: unable to set IP address for hosting: it is already used by another account

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

  1. The following errors appear during migrating domains:

    - error: An error occurred during domain update: An error occurred during changing of hosting settings: Unable to set IP address for hosting: Unable to set IP address 203.0.113.2 for hosting: it is already used by another account.

    - error: MySQL database 'db_example' does not exist on target. Its content will not be copied. Resolve the issue with database creation or create database on target panel, then run copy-db-content command for that subscription to copy database contents.
  2. IP address 203.0.113.2 is a dedicated one. 203.0.113.3 is a shared one.

  3. Migration is initiated on a shared IP and Shared IP is indicated in ip-mapping file in /usr/local/psa/var/modules/panel-migrator/sessions/ directory

  4. Subscription restoration is performed on a dedicated IP for unknown reason, as it is displayed in /usr/local/psa/PMM/rsessions/1234567890/migration.log:

    INFO: => example.com Restore hosting
    INFO: IP for web hosting found 203.0.113.2
  5. Unable to change IP type for 203.0.113.2 from dedicated to shared:

    error: IP address is already assigned to an exclusive user account

Cause

The issue is caused by software issue with id #PPPM-4058 that was fixed in Plesk Onyx.

Resolution

Upgrade to the latest Plesk version .
