[Troubleshooting] Website preview doesn't work

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.x for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows


Cannot open website preview in web browser.

Process Monitor with filter

Path > contains > example.com > Include

shows the following (example):

Site is displayed incorrectly in preview.


  1. Wrong website file name or missing website file.

  2. Wrong path to website file in web server settings for certain domain.

  3. Limited Preview option is chosen in Home > Tools & Settings > Website Preview Settings while website contains scripts, flash animation.

  4. Broken permissions for website file/folder. System user (website holder) has no permission to read website file or to open website root folder.


  1. Create non-existing website files or match website file name and path on filesystem with corresponding file name and path in Home > Subscriptions > example.com > Websites & Domains > subdomain.example.com > Web Server Settings

  2. Switch Limited Preview option to appropriate Quick Preview ... option in Home > Tools & Settings > Website Preview Settings OR disable scripts/animation.

    Check documentation to find difference between Limited Preview and Quick Preview .

  3. Set corresponding permissions for system user (website holder) to allow read website files and open website root folder.
