Unable to create dump - not well-formed (invalid token)

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 10.4 for Linux
  • Plesk 11.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

  1. Backup or migration fails with ' Unable to create dump ' error.

    When running the backup manually:

    # /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/plesk_agent_manager domains-name <domain-name> -vvvvv

It fails with the following output:

    DEBUG Unable to create dump:
    not well-formed (invalid token) at line 3, column 70, byte 174 at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/XML/Parser.pm line 187 at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/XML/Parser/Expat.pm line 478
    XML::Parser::parse('XML::Parser=HASH(0x3e84ce0)', '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>\\x{a}<subscription-info><sy...') called at /usr/share/perl5/XML/Simple.pm
  2. Scheduled task in Plesk Panel contains XML-unescaped symbols:

Subscriptions -> <domain.tld> -> Websites & Domains -> Scheduled Tasks -> <system user> task command contain one the following characters:

    &[0-9] - "ampersand any digit"

&[a-z]; - "ampersand any character and semicolon"

Cause

Internal issue #PPPM-902

Resolution

To work around the issue, please modify command line and remove one of these symbols:

&[0-9] - "ampersand any digit"

&[a-z]; - "ampersand any character and semicolon"

in Subscriptions > <domain.tld> > Websites & Domains > Scheduled Tasks > <system user>

Or configure the cron task in Plesk so that it just launches the script and put the required command with all the symbols in a script on file system of your subscription.
