Migration fails with error: Cannot request remote agent status using command line

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux
  • Plesk 11.5 for Windows
  • Plesk 11.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Migration fails with error:

Error message or request description : Error: launchpad error (Error code = 2): == STDERR ==================== Cannot request remote agent status using command line /var/cache/2013100110274185/PleskX.pl: Died at AgentConfig.pm line 23. at AgentConfig.pm line 23 AgentConfig::AUTOLOAD() called at /var/cache/2013100110274185/PleskX.pl line 298 main::writeMigrationResult() called at /var/cache/2013100110274185/PleskX.pl line 304

OR

Cannot request remote agent status using command line /var/cache/20150318093912860/PleskX.pl: which: no ruby in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin)
Can't open perl script "/var/cache/20150318093912860/PleskX.pl": No such file or directory

Cause

A non-privileged user is used for migration, or 'root' login is not permitted on source SSH server.

Resolution

  1. Specify 'root' credentials for the source server in order to start migration. Users in 'wheel' group, or users allowed to elevate their privileges through 'sudo' will not work.

  2. Set 'PermitRootLogin' parameter to 'yes' in /etc/ssh/sshd_config file on the source server

  3. Restart SSH service:

    # service sshd restart

Note : If it is needed to perform the migration using non-root user, make sure that this user is root-privileged, and GID and UID for this user equals 0.

    # grep mynewuser1 /etc/passwd
mynewuser1:x:0:0::/home/mynewuser1:/bin/bash
