Websites are periodically down - Cannot allocate memory: mod_fcgid: can't run /var/www/cgi-bin/cgi_wrapper/cgi_wrapper

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Apache website(s) on CloudLinux server experience intermittent connection issues or do not allow any new connections.

During this time the following errors in the apache /var/log/httpd/error_log can be observed:

Additionally, failcnt counter in /proc/user_beancounters is increasing for privvmpages limit.

Cause

CloudLinux LVE limits are exhausted.

Resolution

Adjust LVE limits accordingly. Please refer to CloudLinux Documentation for additional information about CloudLinux limits.

You can adjust such limits per user using LVE Manager extension in Plesk.
