Delayed mail from Google or other SSL/TLS enabled mail servers

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 11.x for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Receiving of mail using SSL/TLS is delayed from Google mail accounts or some other mail servers. There are the following errors in mail log:

Oct 25 15:22:35  /var/qmail/bin/relaylock[5345]: /var/qmail/bin/relaylock: mail from 209.85.212.180:60528 (mail-wi0-f180.google.com)
Oct 25 15:23:24 /var/qmail/bin/relaylock[5358]: /var/qmail/bin/relaylock: mail from 74.125.83.44:45839 (mail-ee0-f44.google.com)

Cause

Corrupted or broken supported SSL ciphers list on QMail side brokes TLS/SSL handshake which results delivery delay.

Resolution

Recreate ciphers as follows:

# openssl ciphers > /var/qmail/control/tlsclientciphers
# openssl ciphers > /var/qmail/control/tlsserverciphers
