Application installation stopped working: Non-zero exit status returned by script

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

When trying to install an APS application (WordPress, Joomla, etc.), the following error appears in Plesk:

Error: The following error occurs during application installation:
Installing WordPress at http: //example.com/ failed. Non-zero exit status returned by script.

Output stream '

The error appears if a domain is using PHP version 5.2.17.

However, it is possible to install application if different (and sufficient) PHP version is set under Plesk > Domains > example.com > PHP Settings

Cause

Broken installation of PHP. Missing/not upgraded redistributable files.

Resolution

  1. Clear Application Vault cache via Tools & Settings > Application vault > Clear Cache

  2. Remove broken PHP version that was set when issue occurs via Plesk installer:

    %plesk_bin%\\ai.exe --console
  3. Reinstall this PHP version using Plesk installer:

    %plesk_bin%\\ai.exe --console
  4. Continue with the application installation
