Unable to login to Plesk that is provisioned from WHMCS with system user login

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

A client from WHMCS places several orders and they are created as different subscriptions in Plesk under the same Customer. Unable to login to Plesk using system user login and the password retrieved from WHMCS in client profile > Products/Services > choose subscription in question > check the username and the password :

Error: You have entered incorrect username or password.

Cause

System users assigned to every subscriptions, according to Plesk Administrator Guide , a system user is not allowed to login to Plesk Customer Panel, it is only allowed to login to a subscription area over FTP or SSH/RDP.

It is expected from the Plesk side to allow only Customer to login to Plesk control panel because 2 domains are placed in Plesk under a particular customer so the customer can access Plesk and manage all subscriptions that belong to him.

Workaround

To allow a certain users to login to Plesk, create appropriate User role under a subscription according to instructions here .
