Limitations on outgoing email messages do not work for Outlook 2007

Symptoms

Limitations on outgoing email messages are enabled on the server, but don't work for Outlook 2007 . The following entry appears in mail log:

py_limit_out[2428]: INFO No SMTP AUTH and not running in sendmail context (incoming or unrestricted outgoing mail). SKIP message.

OR

ERROR Malformed SMTP session auth

Cause

SMTP authentication is not configured for outgoing messages.

Resolution

Configure your mail user agent to use SMTP authentication for outgoing messages.For Outlook 2007 it can be done with the following steps:

  1. Open Outlook 2007

  2. From the Tools menu select Account Settings . The Account Settings box will appear.

  3. Verify that the E-mail tab is selected.

  4. Click on the account to highlight it and click on the Change icon above it. The Internet E-mail Settings will appear.

  5. Click on More Settings… in the lower right corner. The Internet Email Settings box will appear.

  6. Click on the tab Outgoing Server .

  7. Click the tick box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication , and select Log on using option. Specify mail account credentials.

  8. Click OK to close the Internet Email Settings box.

Also, ensure, that 127.0.0.1 address is not added to mail server white list at Home > Tools&Settings > Server-Wide Mail Settings > White List .
