Transfer of domain with database fails

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 11.0 for Linux
  • Plesk 11.5 for Windows
  • Plesk 11.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

When I try to transfer a domain with a database to Parallels Plesk using Home > Tools & Settings > Migration & Transfer Manager , the database restoration fails with an error:

ERROR: (domain object 'domain.tld') Failed deployment of database domain_joomla25 (domain domain.tld)
ERROR: () Unable to deploy database content. Please try to restore it manually from the archive domains\\domain.tld\\databases\\domain_joomla25_1[sqldump]: backup_domain_joomla25_1_db_1306271658.zip
Execution of "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\MySQL\\bin\\/mysql" --no-defaults -u joomla25 -h localhost -P 3306 domain_joomla25 failed with return code -1.
Stdin is source C:\\Program Files(x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\PrivateTemp/migration-unpack-01ce7377de7a1bd0/tmp44080.tmp
exit

Resolution

As a workaround, you can export the database using Webadmin on the source server and import it to the destination server:

  1. Go to the following location in Parallels Plesk on the source server: Domains > domain.tld > Databases > database_name > Webadmin > choose database_name > Webadmin > database_name > Export > Format: SQL . Save the output to your local workstation.

  2. Go to the following location in Parallels Plesk on the destination server: Subscriptions > domain.tld > Websites & Domains > Databases > database_name > Webadmin > database_name > Import > choose database_path
