Log files occupy a lot of disk space because PHP log_level = notice. Is it possible to change the default value?

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

A lot of the server disk space is taken by log files with php errors.

The default value of php-fpm.conf file in /opt/plesk/php/5.6/etc/php-fpm.conf is:

log_level = notice

Is it possible to change the default value?

Cause

log_level = notice is the default value for the freshly installed Plesk. It can be manually modified, but this is the only default value that comes with any new installation.

Resolution

Change the default value in /opt/plesk/php/5.6/etc/php-fpm.conf file to alert, error, warning or debug to decrease the number of php-related logs:

log_level = alert

You may want to suggest new functionality in Plesk so that another default value is set for log_level on Plesk User Voice portal.
