Upgrade fails if old version of mysqlclient15 package is installed / 500 - Internal Server Error

Symptoms

If MySQL is updated from the Atomic repository and the old version of the mysqlclient15 package is installed, the upgrade may fail with the following error message:

Upgrade fails with the error:
Trying to set up APS controller database... Attempting to check APS db
connection via ODBC, using /usr/bin/isql (empty output is good)
/usr/bin/isql: relocation error: /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so: symbol strmov, version libmysqlclient_15 not defined in file
libmysqlclient.so.15 with link time reference
Failed, rc = 127.
Failed to establish test connection. Cleaning up.

ERROR while trying to establish test connection to APS database via ODBC
Check the error reason(see log file:
/tmp/plesk_10.4.4_installation.log), fix and try again

Cause

The issue is caused by the bug in the mysqlclient15 package from the Atomic repository that was installed together with MySQL package from Atomic.

Resolution

Update the mysqlclient15 package to the latest release. Execute the following command:

# yum update mysqlclient15

The release of the package with the bugfix is "mysqlclient15-2.el5.art."

You can check the release of the mysqlclient15 package with the following command:

# rpm -q --queryformat '%{RELEASE}\

' mysqlclient15 2.el5.art

After that rerun the bootstrapper utility to complete the upgrade:

/usr/local/psa/bootstrapper/pp -bootstrapper/bootstrapper.sh repair

Replace with the actual version on your server (like /usr/local/psa/bootstrapper/pp11.0.9-bootstrapper/bootstrapper.sh ).
