SmarterMail::SMDomain::throwDomainError line 881

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 10.3 for Windows
  • Plesk 11.5 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows


The error occurs when we are logging to Plesk and creating an email account. If the first one works, it always fails on the second one.

We have applied fix /en/213409709 but this did not fix the problem.

Error: Unable to update the mail account properties:Can't open domain. Domain: domain.tld [domain.tld]. Reason: Failed to log in. at (SmarterMail::SMDomain::throwDomainError line 881) at execute console command --add-mailname(vconsoleapp::start line 97) at execute "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\admin\\bin\\mailmng.exe" --add-mailname "--domain-name=domain.tld" "--mailname=test12" "--password=*"(vconsoleapp::run line 107) (Error code 1)


  1. Make sure also that Plesk has access to SmarterMail service (the valid password is configured in "Tools & Settings" -> ServerComponents -> SmarterMail ). If you see the yellow icon as on the screenshot below it means that Plesk was not able to establish connection to SmarterMail.


  2. Execute the command given below:

    "%plesk_bin%\\defpackagemng.exe" --update --type=mailserver --package=smartermail
