Unable to add a subscription or enable mail service: mailmng failed: Can't create domain.

Symptoms

  1. The following error is thrown upon attempt to create a subscription or add domain:

    The path "f:\\SmarterMail\\Domains\\example.com" conflicts with the path "f:\\SmarterMail\\Domains\\example.com" which is currently in use by the domain "example.com".
  2. Same error is thrown upon manual attempt to create a mail service for a domain:

    C:\\>"%plesk_bin%\\mailmng.exe" --add-domain --domain-name=example.com --disk-quota=2147483648 --total-disk-quota=-1
    Can't create domain.
    Domain: example.com [example.com].
    Reason:
    The path "f:\\SmarterMail\\Domains\\example.com" conflicts with the path "f:\\SmarterMail\\Domains\\example.com" which is currently in use by the domain "example.com". Please choose another path to store the domain.

  3. It is possible to add subscription/domain with other name.

Cause

A record about the 'example.com' domain already exists in SmarterMail.

Resolution

  1. Back up and remove the folder mentioned in the error message if it exists.

  2. Remove 'example.com' domain existing in SmarterMail through SmarterMail admin interface;
