When trying to copy a backup from FTP repository to server repository the following error appears:
Error: Unable to move selected backup (backup_name.tar) to server repository. Error: The file you are trying to upload is not a valid backup file.
Additionally, when trying to upload a backup downloaded from FTP repository using the "Upload Files to Server Repository" option, it fails with this error:
Error: Unable to upload 'backup_name.tar' to server repository: The file you are trying to upload is not a valid backup file
This behavior is considered to be a software issue, #PPPM-1570 , that will be fixed in further Parallels Plesk updates.
There is a workaround how to copy a backup from FTP repository to server repository:
Download the file from FTP repository under the Backup Manager > Personal FTP Repository tab.
Unpack the archive (it will be extracted to the current directory):
# tar -xf backup_name.tar
If the subscription is owned by the administrator of Parallels Plesk, open the folder 'domains/domain.tld'
# cd domains/domain.tld
If the subscription is owned by a customer, open the
# cd clients/client_name/domains/domain.tld
Archive the files in your current directory:
# tar -cvpf newbackup.tar * .??*
Upload the newly created archive
newbackup.tarto server repository using "Upload Files to Server Repository" option and checking the box "Upload backup files without a valid signature" .
NOTE: When you restore backups uploaded using the above method, check the box "I want to restore this backup despite the fact that it does not have a valid signature" . If you do not, you will not be able to restore it.
