Mail rejected when greylisting is turned on: 550 5.7.1 Command rejected

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

  1. Mail are being rejected when greylisting is turned on. The following error in maillog :

    Jul 29 12:53:25 vps postfix/smtpd[11808]: 6F71FB621675: client=smtp.111-example.com[10.20.30.40]
    Jul 29 12:53:25 vps postfix/smtpd[11808]: 6F71FB621675: milter-reject: DATA from smtp.111-example.com[10.20.30.40]: 550 5.7.1 Command rejected; from=<user1@texample1.com> to=<user2@example2.com> proto=ESMTP helo=<smtp.111-example.com>
  2. There are no numerical pattern displayed by /usr/local/psa/bin/grey_listing utility

    # /usr/local/psa/bin/grey_listing -i | grep "0-9"
    #
  3. IP address 10.20.30.40 is not blacklisted by DNS based email blacklists services.

Cause

Domain matches numerical patterns for greylisting and they are predefined in Plesk out of the box. However they are not visible using grey_listing utility.

This is software issue #PPPM-4793 .

Workaround

  1. Download, save and replace /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Mail/Server/GreyList/Manager.php with one from attachment :

    # wget https://support.plesk.com/hc/article_attachments/115004383849/Manager.zip
    # unzip Manager.zip
    # cp /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Mail/Server/GreyList/Manager.php{,.saved}
    # cp ./Manager.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Mail/Server/GreyList/Manager.php
  2. Add smtp.111-example.com to trusted one:

    # /usr/local/psa/bin/grey_listing -u -domains-whitelist add:smtp.111-example.com
