Mail could not be delivered: User 'postfix' or group 'postfix' doesn't seem to exist

Symptoms

Impossible to send and receive mail, webmail is not working too. var/log/maillog contains the following:

/usr/lib/plesk-9.0/psa-pc-remote[13223]: handlers_stderr: : 'getpwuid(): uid not found: 110'
/usr/lib/plesk-9.0/psa-pc-remote[13223]: _mh_fork(): unrecognized status code '1'
сheck-quota filter[25132]: User 'postfix' or group 'postfix' doesn't seem to exist.

Cause

Invalid permission on /etc/passwd

Resolution

Ensure that /etc/passwd have the correct permissions set:

~# chmod 644 /etc/passwd
