Unable to open Plesk Backup Manager: Failed to read data from stream Process output

Symptoms

An attempt to open Backup Manager fails with the following error:

Error message or request description : ("ERROR: PleskPMMResponseException. Failed to parse response. Reason: Failed to read data from stream Process output:")

Cause

Incorrectly set permissions on the '/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/wrapper' and '/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mod_wrapper' .

Resolution

Correct the permissions:

# stat /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/wrapper
File: `/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/wrapper'
Size: 14336 Blocks: 32 IO Block: 4096 regular file
Device: 4bb0b6e1h/1269872353d Inode: 271963 Links: 1
Access: (4110/---s--x---) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 500/ psaadm)

# stat /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mod_wrapper
File: `/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mod_wrapper'
Size: 13432 Blocks: 32 IO Block: 4096 regular file
Device: 4bb0b6e1h/1269872353d Inode: 279095 Links: 1
Access: (4110/---s--x---) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 500/ psaadm)

It is also highly recommended to check the permission of other files (espesially if you see that most of the files has 755 access).

To do that you may follow the instruction provided in the article # 213903405 "How to restore corrupted Parallels Plesk Panel permissions and ownerships".
