Uploading backup file times out with 'client intended to send too large body' error

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 11.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Uploading backup file to Plesk times out. In /var/log/sw-cp-server/error_log the following message appears:

2014/01/25 21:41:19 [error] 25312#0: *59 client intended to send too large body: 1200002689 bytes, client: 1.2.3.4, server: , request: "POST /plesk/server/backup/local-repository/upload/ HTTP/1.1", host: "4.3.2.1:8443", referrer: "https://4.3.2.1:8443/plesk/server/backup/local-repository/upload/"

Cause

Maximum allowed upload size is less than backup file size.

Resolution

Increase client_max_body_size value accordingly in the /etc/sw-cp-server/config config file, e.g. if backup file size is 1,2GB, set the value to 1200m (1200MB).

# grep client_max_body_size /etc/sw-cp-server/config
client_max_body_size 1200m;

Note: Maximum upload file size can not exceed 2Gb
