php memory error: Allowed memory size exhausted

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Domain ( example.com ) error_log file has the following error:

PHP Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 523800 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

The memory_limit value was increased to 1024MB but the issue persists.

Cause

Wrong shortcut for megabyte was used in php.ini .

Resolution

Go to Websites & Domains > Hosting Settings of example.com and make sure that the correct shortcut for byte values is used:

K (kilo), M (mega), and G (giga). For example, 128M .
