Changing of IP address with reconfigurator.pl fails with error: need more than 4 values to unpack

Symptoms

Changing of IP address with reconfigurator.pl fails with error

    # /usr/local/psa/bin/reconfigurator.pl ipaddresses.map
Generating DB update script...
need more than 4 values to unpack

Cause

Some DNS records ('A' records) have empty values in Plesk database.

Resolution

  1. Backup Plesk database:

    mysqldump -uadmin -p`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow ` psa > psa.dump.`date +%F`
  2. Login to psa database and check empty DNS records:

    mysql> select * from dns_recs where type='A' and val=''\\G

    *************************** 1. row ***************************
    id: 6682
    dns_zone_id: 141
    type: A
    displayHost: webmail.domain.tld.
    host: webmail.domain.tld.
    displayVal:
    val:
    opt:
    time_stamp: 2012-08-09 10:34:36

As you can see displayVal and val are empty, but IP address should be set. So please correct it as in example below:

    mysql> update dns_recs set val='1.2.3.4',displayVal='1.2.3.4' where id=6682;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.01 sec)
  3. Execute reconfigurator again:

    /usr/local/psa/bin/reconfigurator.pl ipaddresses.map
