WordPress installation on a subdomain: files and directories permissions issue

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

WordPress Security Check shows an error:

Clicking Secure button does not fix the issue.

Cause

"Permissions for files and directories" checker function changes permissions for non-WordPress files and directories.This is Plesk internal issue with id #PPP-17596 , which is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Workaround

Manually change the permissions for all subdirectories of DocumentRoot directory of the domain\ subdomain. In the example below the proper permissions are set for cgi-bin subdirectory:

# chmod 755 ./example.com/subdomain.example.com/cgi-bin/
