Applicable to:
- Plesk Onyx for Linux
Symptoms
-
Subdomain is created as an additional domain in Plesk at Subscriptions > example.com > Add Domain > test.example.com
Subdomain is created at Subscriptions > example.com > Add Subdomain > test.example.com and DNS zone for a subdomain is enabled at Domains > test.example.com > DNS Settings.
-
DNS zones for such subdomains cannot be created/synced on Amazon via Amazon Route 53 Plesk extension. The following error is shows at Extensions > Amazon Route 53 > Mass Management
PLESK_ERROR: Error: Failed zone creation test.example.com.: Cannot create hosted zone with DelegationSetId DelegationSetId:N12KZABLJLJHOU as the DNSName test.example.com. conflicts with existing ones sharing the delegation set
Cause
This is an Amazon limitation ConflictingDomainExists
described in the documentation Amazon Route 53 and listed in the Amazone Route 53 extension documentation.
In addition, an internal ID #EXTCERT-1209 has been created for the error displaying improvement and it is planned for future product updates.
Resolution
Two hosted zones that have the same name or that have a parent/child relationship (example.com and test.example.com) can't have any common name servers.
Since this is an Amazon limitation it cannot be solved from Plesk side.
As a workaround:
- Create subdomains in Plesk only via the button Add Subdomain.
- Keep DNS for subdomains turned off.
- Manage DNS for subdomains through main domain zone at Subscriptions > example.com > DNS Settings.
