Unable to connect to the Plesk server over FTP: 530 User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible

Symptoms

• Unable to connect to a domain on the Plesk server over FTP:

  CONFIG_TEXT: Response: 530 User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible.
  Error: Critical error: Could not connect to the server

• The server has several IP addresses configured

Cause

An incorrect IP address is selected for the domain in Domains > example.com > Web Hosting Access:

# plesk repair ftp -y
...
Checking all domain names resolve to appropriate IP addresses
The domain name example.com resolves to another IP address (203.0.113.2) ............................................................. [WARNING]
...

Resolution

1. Log into Plesk

2. Go to Domains > example.com > Web Hosting Access

3. Select the IP address that resolves globally for the domain

4. Click OK
