Symptoms

The website is inaccessible. The following error is shown in a browser:
CONFIG_TEXT: 403 Forbidden

The following error can be found in the domain Apache logs
/var/www/vhosts/system/example.com/logs/error_log
:CONFIG_TEXT: [autoindex:error] [pid 30047] [client 203.0.113.2:36811] AH01276: Cannot serve directory /var/www/vhosts/example/httpdocs/: No matching DirectoryIndex (index.html,index.cgi,index.pl,index.php,index.xhtml,index.htm,index.shtml) found, and server-generated directory index forbidden by Options directive
- All the website content is located in the custom Document root (i.e.
/var/www/vhosts/example.com/subdomains/app/httpdocs
) instead of the default one(/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs
).
Cause
Domain misconfiguration.
Resolution
Modify the Document Root in Plesk > Domains > example.com > Hosting Settings:
Note: If menu is absent or different, contact server's administrator/Hosting Provider or upgrade to the latest Plesk version.
