Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Windows
  • Plesk for Linux

Question

How to download a huge (about 100 GB) backup file from Plesk?

Answer

Build the backup file using pmm-ras utility:

For Linux:

  1. Determine the name of required .xml file:

    /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --get-dump-list
  2. Build the backup file:

    /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --export-dump-as-file --dump-specification=<backup_name>.xml --dump-file-specification=/root/backup.tar

For Windows:

  1. Determine the required .xml file:

    "%plesk_bin%\pmm-ras.exe" --get-dump-list
  2. Build the backup file:
    "%plesk_bin%\pmm-ras.exe" --export-dump-as-file --dump-specification=<backup_name>.xml --dump-file-specification=C:\backup.zip

Note: --dump-file-specification option defines where a backup will be created on the server.
