How to download a huge (about 100 GB) backup file from Plesk? This also may be required when there is not enough free space on /tmp to store temporary files that get created when clicking on Download in the web interface
Plesk stores backups as sets of files.To download, they should be converted to a single backup file.
Build the backup file using
- Connect to the server via SSH.
Determine the name of the required
# /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --get-dump-list
Build the backup file:
# /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --export-dump-as-file --dump-specification=<backup_name>.xml --dump-file-specification=/root/backup.tar
- Connect to the server via RDP.

D:\backup\clients\user\domains\example.com\backup_example.com_info_1712162323.xml, then command will look as follows:
C:\> "%plesk_bin%\pmm-ras.exe" --export-dump-as-file --dump-specification=clients\user\domains\example.com\backup_example.com_info_1712162323.xml --dump-file-specification=C:\backup.zip
option defines where a backup will be created on the server.
The backup file can be saved/moved to place from where it can be downloaded.
