PHP-FPM is set as a PHP handler at Plesk > Domains > example.com > PHP Settings.
This is a Plesk bug with ID PPPM-7087 , which is planned to be fixed in future updates.
As a workaround:
In Plesk go to Domains > example.com > PHP Settings .
Switch the PHP handler to any with CGI/FastCGI support.
Click OK .
Modify FTP account settings.
Set PHP-FPM handler back in PHP Settings .
