Migration fails: MSSQL database does not exist on target. Its content will not be copied

Applicable to:

  • Plesk Onyx for Linux

Symptoms

In case when first migration attempt was performed to one SQL server and after that default SQL server was changed to another one, the second migration attempt fails on database creation:

[Migration] MSSQL database 'train' does not exist on target. Its content will not be copied.
Resolve the issue with database creation or create database on target panel. Then run migration for the failed subscription once more.

Cause

The first migration attempt was performed to one SQL server and before the the re-migration, the default SQL server was switched to another one. Plesk Migrator did not recognize the default database server change.

This is a Plesk Migrator issue with ID #PMT-3541 that is planned to be fixed in future updates.

Resolution

As a workaround, remove the databases mentioned in the error message from the target server and sync database content of the corresponding subscription.
