- Plesk Onyx for Linux
Cannot connect to a Plesk instance on Amazon EC2 over FTP using FileZilla:
CONFIG_TEXT: The data connection could not be established: ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out
The passive FTP port range is configured on the Plesk server:
# grep -r PassivePorts /etc/proftpd*
/etc/proftpd.d/55-passive-ports.conf:PassivePorts 49152 65535
The passive port range is open for the inbound connections in the security group to which the EC2 instance with Plesk belongs:
The passive port range is filtered in iptables (the firewall on the server itself).
Open the passive port range as described in the article How to manage ports for Plesk on Linux Server.
Note: In Plesk's Amazon Machine Images (or AMI) with Plesk Onyx 17.8.11 and newer, the passive FTP port range 49152-65535 is opened by default both in the security group and in iptables (if Plesk Firewall is used).
