- Plesk for Linux
A website hosted on a Plesk server with a remote MySQL server is not accessible.
The following error message appears in the logfile
/var/log/mariadb/mariadb.logif MariaDB is installed):
CONFIG_TEXT: [Warning] IP address '203.0.113.2' could not be resolved: Name or service not known
The MySQL server tries to perform a reverse DNS lookup for the IP address of the Plesk server, but fails, because the Plesk server has no reverse lookup zone.
Configure the server to skip reverse DNS lookup:
Connect to the server where remote MySQL server is installed via SSH.
Open the file
/etc/my.cnfin a text editor. In this example, we are using the vi editor:
on CentOS/RHEL-based distributions
# vi /etc/my.cnf
on Debian/Ubuntu-based distributions
# vi /etc/mysql/my.cnf
Add the "skip-name-resolve" setting under the [mysqld] section:
Restart the MySQL server to apply the changes:
# service mysql restart
or if MariaDB is installed:
# service mariadb restart
