- Plesk for Linux
A website hosted on a Plesk server with a remote MySQL server is not accessible.
The following error message appears in the logfile /var/log/mysql/error.log (or /var/log/mariadb/mariadb.log if MariaDB is installed):
CONFIG_TEXT: [Warning] IP address '203.0.113.2' could not be resolved: Name or service not known
MySQL server unsuccessfully tries to perform a reverse DNS lookup for IP address of the Plesk server. The reason of message is that the IP address of host connecting to MySQL has no reverse lookup zone. Such message also can mean that someone is trying to brute force into MySQL database.
Configure the server to skip reverse DNS lookup:
Connect to the remote MySQL server via SSH.
Open the file /etc/my.cnf in a text editor and add the "skip-name-resolve" option to the [mysqld] section:
Restart MySQL to apply the changes:
# service mysqld restart
OR if MariaDB is installed:
# service mariadb restart
